PM Internship Scheme Deadline: If you’re a student or a young professional looking for hands-on industry experience, there’s some good news. The government has once again extended the registration deadline for the Prime Minister Internship Scheme (PMIS), giving aspiring applicants extra time to enrol.

The new deadline to apply for the internship is April 22, 2025, a week beyond the earlier cut-off of April 15. This extension means more candidates can now complete their profiles and explore internship options across top Indian companies — provided they meet the eligibility criteria.

What is the PM Internship Scheme?

The PM Internship Scheme, first introduced in the Union Budget 2024-25 by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, is aimed at empowering India’s youth by offering them structured internship opportunities. Selected candidates will be placed in some of the country’s top-500 companies, allowing them to gain real-world experience in diverse sectors.

What Does the Internship Offer?

The internship runs for 12 months, and selected interns will receive a monthly stipend of Rs 5,000. Of this:

  • Rs 500 will be paid directly by the employer, based on attendance, performance, and overall conduct.
  • Rs 4,500 will be transferred by the Government of India directly to the intern’s Aadhaar-linked bank account.

Additionally, each intern will receive a one-time enrollment incentive of Rs 6,000 at the beginning of the internship.

Who Can Apply?

To be eligible, candidates must:

  • Be Indian citizens
  • Be between 21 and 24 years old as of the last date of application
  • Not be in full-time employment or full-time education (those pursuing distance or online courses can apply)
  • Have completed any one of the following:
  • SSC (Secondary School Certificate) or equivalent
  • HSC (Higher Secondary Certificate) or equivalent
  • Certification from an ITI (Industrial Training Institute)
