CBS News projects that former President Donald Trump will win the Republican primary in Michigan, while President Biden will win the Democratic primary.
With 62% of the vote counted, Trump led with 67% to former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley’s 27%. Haley, fresh off her defeat in her home state of South Carolina, has vowed to stay in the race through Super Tuesday on March 5.
On the Democratic side, with 51% of the vote counted, Mr. Biden has 80% of the vote. While he did not have any challengers, there was an effort launched by Arab and Muslim Americans to vote “uncommitted” in the primary as a protest of his policy toward Israel. With 51% of the vote reported, “uncommitted” had 13% of the vote.
If “uncommitted” receives more than 15% of the vote, then delegates who are not bound to any candidate could attend the convention.
