The Phillips Collection’s forthcoming season is unmissable — and I mean that in two senses, as each concert from the museum’s Music Room will be live-streamed. Highlights include pianist-composer Vijay Iyer and the Parker Quartet (Oct. 22), tenor Karim Sulayman and guitarist Sean Shibe (Nov. 19), and JACK Quartet’s “Modern Medieval” program, dovetailing works by Rodericus, Solage and Nicola Vicentino with unlikely companions of John Zorn, Caleb Burhans and Gabriella Smith (Dec. 3). The season’s musical centerpiece runs parallel to the museum’s exhibition “African Modernism in America, 1947-67.” Three programs will highlight African composers and performers: Andile Khumalo and his Chicago-based Ensemble Dal Niente will be featured in the Leading International Composers series (Nov. 12); pianist Rebeca Omordia plays a program of “African Pianism” (Nov. 26); and jazz multi-talent Richard Bona brings the Asante Trio (Dec. 14).
