Tottenham’s comeback thwarts Manchester United’s win in Ratcliffe’s maiden match – SUCH TV

Manchester United failed to give a victorious welcome to their new co-owner, Jim Ratcliffe, at Old Trafford, settling for a 2-2 draw against Tottenham on Sunday.

Ratcliffe, who recently secured a 25 percent stake in the club for $1.3 billion, attended his first match since the deal.

Despite the scarcity of goals from United forwards at Old Trafford this season, Rasmus Hojlund and Marcus Rashford both found the net in the first half, sandwiching Richarlison’s equalizer.

Rodrigo Bentancur’s early second-half goal brought the scores level once again.

The draw moves Tottenham level with north London rivals Arsenal, just outside the top four on goal difference.

Despite missing key players, including captain Son Heung-min, Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou praised his team’s resilience, stating, “We’ve not had an easy year, and the only reason we are in the position we are is because the players are willing to put aside adversity.”

Jim Ratcliffe, sitting alongside former United manager Alex Ferguson in the directors’ box, experienced the ups and downs of football club ownership. Ratcliffe had earlier expressed his excitement about investing in his boyhood club.

Manchester United had a promising start, with Hojlund scoring early in the game, but Tottenham fought back with Richarlison’s header. Rashford’s goal before halftime gave United the lead again, but Bentancur’s equaliser ensured a share of the points.

Tottenham, aiming for a Champions League spot, controlled the game in the second half, but both teams had chances to secure a win. The draw leaves Tottenham eight points ahead of United, who move up to seventh place.

Erik ten Hag’s men, needing a win to close the gap in the Champions League race, couldn’t secure the three points. Ratcliffe’s introduction to club ownership turned out to be a rollercoaster, and the draw meant that Tottenham retained their advantage in the league standings.
