CtrlS Datacenters firms up $2 billion investment to power ambitious expansion plans – Times of India



HYDERABAD: CtrlS Datacenters Ltd, a Hyderabad-based Rated-4 data centre service provider, said it has firmed up plans to invest $2 billion over the next six years in scaling up operations to more than double the existing capacity.
CtrlS said the plans to expand footprint within India and in select South-East Asian countries will also see it double its headcount by adding over 1,000 people by 2029.
As part of its ambitious expansion, the datacentre player will add 350 MW of AI & Cloud-ready hyperscale data centers to cater to the surge in adoption of AI applications and Cloud technologies, it said on Thursday.
Currently it has 12 datacentres with a 234 MW capacity spread across seven cities — Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore, Noida, Lucknow, and Patna.
The company said it will be investing in key technologies and strategies in areas such as advanced cooling, power management, and overall infrastructure design in its new hyperscale data centers.
These include liquid cooling (direct-to-chip or immersion cooling), AI HVAC, AI optimised rack layout, high-efficiency power infrastructure, among others. It will also provide a plug-n-play environment for emerging technology service providers to help them grow their IT footprint seamlessly.
CtrlS founder & chairman Sridhar Pinnapureddy said with the surge in AI and cloud technologies the company plans to bolster its presence across key markets with the next generation of datacenter technology through pioneering services and sustainable practices.
The data center player is also aiming for net zero by 2030 for which it is investing in 153-megawatt peak (MWp) solar projects across three markets in India that will generate 2.5 lakh megawatt hours (MWh) of energy annually.
This includes a 145-MWp solar project in Maharashtra that will be fully owned and operated by CtrlS and the remaining two will come up in Karnataka and UP.
CtrlS said by 2025 it plans to invest in additional 300 MWp projects and will also be deploying advanced water recycling technologies to achieve 100% usage of recycled water at all its data centers to emerge carbon neutral by 2030.
