Karnataka’s popular dairy brand, Nandini, will see the price of its toned milk rise from Rs 42 to Rs 46 per litre, while curd will now cost Rs 54 per litre, up from Rs 50.

Karnataka raises milk price by Rs 4, effective April 1.

In yet another move impacting household budgets, the Karnataka government on Thursday approved a fresh hike in milk and curd prices, further tightening the financial strain on consumers. After increasing public transport fares earlier this year, the state administration has now raised the price of essential dairy products by Rs 4 per litre, effective April 1.

The decision, announced on March 27 by Animal Husbandry and Silk Production Minister K Venkatesh, comes in response to persistent demands from dairy farmers, cooperatives, and the Animal Husbandry Department. With this revision, Karnataka’s popular dairy brand, Nandini, will see the price of its toned milk rise from Rs 42 to Rs 46 per litre, while curd will now cost Rs 54 per litre, up from Rs 50.

Revised Prices for Nandini Dairy Products in Karnataka

  • Toned Milk – Rs 46 per litre (previously Rs 42)
  • Homogenised Toned Milk – Rs 47 per litre (previously Rs 43)
  • Cow Milk (Green Packet) – Rs 50 per litre (previously Rs 46)
  • Shubham Milk – Rs 52 per litre (previously Rs 48)
  • Curd – Rs 54 per litre (previously Rs 50)

Comparing Prices: Nandini vs Amul and Mother Dairy

While Karnataka residents adjust to the new prices, consumers in Delhi-NCR continue to pay more for other leading dairy brands:

  • Amul Gold – Rs 67 per litre
  • Amul Taaza – Rs 55 per litre
  • Mother Dairy Full Cream – Rs 68 per litre
  • Mother Dairy Toned Milk – Rs 56 per litre
  • Nandini Full Cream – Rs 67 per litre
  • Nandini Toned Milk – Rs 55 per litre

Dairy cooperatives and milk federations in Karnataka have welcomed the price adjustment, citing rising production costs and the need for fair compensation to farmers. However, the hike is expected to weigh heavily on ordinary consumers, who are already grappling with the recent surge in public transport fares.
