The Haryana Board of School Education (HBSE) has announced modifications in its Class 10th and 12th exams following the pattern of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Board Exams. The Haryana Board of School Education has declared that it will conduct 10th and 12th board exams twice a year. This step has been taken with the aim of decreasing the rate of students dropping out of school.
This decision allows students to get a second chance in the same year if, for some reason, they are not able to perform well in an exam and they want to improve their scores. But it will be the student’s choice to decide whether he wants to appear for the exam once or twice. Furthermore, it is to be noted by the candidates that only the exam in which the student has higher marks in both exams will be considered by the board while preparing mark sheets and results.
In addition to that, the Haryana Board of School Education also declares that the candidate will appear for the entire syllabus in this examination to be held in six months under the new system. The board believes that with this initiative, students will get two opportunities a year to succeed in the examination, in comparison to the conventional single chance a year.
Despite the changes mentioned above, elements such as the Haryana Board’s 10th and 12th grade syllabus or the blueprint of the question paper will remain unchanged. Candidates will be given a maximum of three trials in July, September, and March to pass the exam. If they still fail even in compartment exams, they will be given a chance to appear in the exam via open school.
Digital Marking System
Apart from this, the Haryana School Education Board has introduced digital marketing, and with this, the Haryana Board becomes the first board in the country to do digital marking of answer sheets in classes 10 and 12. As far as the exam pattern is concerned, no changes have been made. This digital assessment initiative is currently ongoing, with the first batch of scanned answer sheets being assessed during the supplementary exams in October 2023.
The answer sheets are being scanned at the Haryana School Education Board headquarters itself, and the digitised assessments will then undergo evaluation throughout dedicated evaluation centres across the state, potentially ensuring greater efficiency and accuracy in the marking process.
