She was the Additional MD of Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation before joining the Noida Authority. She hails from Faridabad, Haryana. She completed her Class 10 from Geeta Convent School. before transferring to Moden Vidya Niketan school in sector 17 from where she did her 12th boards. She completed her post-graduation from Delhi University. After two unsuccessful attempts, Annapurna Garg cleared the UPSC Civil Service Exams in 2016. She secured 68th All India Rank in the exams.
Hailing from a middle-class family, with her father being a small-scale businessman, Annapurna Garg dreamt big right from adolescence. She chose a civil service career and decided to pave the way for her success. Initially, she failed but didn’t lose her courage and continued her efforts. She cracked the exam in 2016 and got the UP cadre after her selection.
Before starting her rigorous journey for CSE, she had numerous career options available. She also cleared NET JRF which would have helped her to pursue a doctorate. She, however, leaned towards civil service as she felt that her interests aligned with the career path.
After clearing the exam, she was posted as SDM in Bansidh, Ballia. Now she is the new Additional CEO of Noida Authority, hence life played a curveball. It is the result of her immense hard work and strong perseverance. She has always preached about the importance of challenging oneself. She believes that to succeed, one needs to constantly immerse themselves in new challenges.
According to IAS Annapurna Garg, the best way to prepare for the UPSC exam is to solve the previous year’s question paper regularly. She believes it helps one understand the depth of the issues that need to be studied. She also said that it is important to learn from your mistakes and to never lie to yourself.
