Sri Aurobindo Institute of Medical Sciences, a private Indore-based medical college in Madhya Pradesh, has announced that for the academic session 2023–24, there will be no tuition fees for students enrolling in postgraduate (PG) programmes at their college. Admission to this medical college is facilitated through MP NEET PG counselling in 2023.
“Through this letter we wish to inform you that the Management has decided to not charge any tuition fees from the students being admitted for the academic session 2023-2023 in the MD/MS Course (Non-clinical except Pathology),” stated Dean Dr. R.R. Wavare in the official announcement. The institute has posted this notification on its official website, saimsonline.com.

As per SAMCPI’s official notification, medical students will receive a monthly stipend of Rs 75,000 for the entire three-year duration. The college campus offers hostel and mess facilities. Tuition fees are waived for MD and MS courses, excluding non-clinical pathology, at the Sri Aurobindo Medical College and PG Institute (SAMCPI). While the hostel facility is available for postgraduate courses in anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, microbiology, pharmacology, forensic medicine, and community medicine, it is optional.
Last week, the medical associations strongly criticised the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare’s (MoHFW) decision to reduce the qualifying percentile for NEET PG 2023 to zero for all categories. This decision by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has sparked controversy in the medical community.
The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), under the Directorate of Health Services, Government of India, issued a notice confirming this change. The notice states, “It is for the information to candidates that the qualifying percentile for PG Courses (Medical/ Dental) for NEET PG counselling 2023 has been reduced to ‘zero’ across all categories by MoHFW.”
Furthermore, the official notification explains that candidates who have now become eligible due to this reduction in the percentile will have the opportunity to participate in Round 3 of PG Counselling. They can complete fresh registration and make their choice of selections. Candidates who were previously registered need not re-register but can edit their choices as needed. The MCC website will soon provide an updated schedule for Round 3 and onwards for PG Counselling.
This decision to eliminate the qualifying percentile requirement for NEET PG 2023 counselling has stirred a debate within the medical community, with some supporting it as a way to expand opportunities for medical students, while others are concerned about the potential impact on the quality of medical education and training.
