Telangana goes to the polls on November 30.

Government schools in Telangana are likely to remain shut down on November 29 and 30 in light of the upcoming state assembly elections. The closure is attributed to a substantial number of teachers participating in election duties, with approximately 80 per cent slated to participate in the elections on November 30.
It is anticipated that the state is going to declare a two-day holiday for schools on November 29, the day before the polling, and on November 30. An official announcement regarding this decision will likely be made following the instructions of the Election Commission. According to sources within the Telangana Education Department, an official announcement will be issued per the directives of the Election Commission, as reported by Hans India.
Teachers participating in election duties are instructed to report by 7 AM on November 29 for the preparation and handling of EVM machines. On the day preceding the polling, teachers are expected to arrive at the designated schools, which will serve as polling centres.
Due to teachers participating in election duties, the education department is contemplating a two-day holiday for government schools. Alongside, it is expected that the teachers will be granted leave on December 1, the day following the polling.
Telangana is slated for polls on November 30 and the vote counting is scheduled for December 3. The upcoming elections in the state will see a three-way competition involving the Congress, the BJP and the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi.
President of the State Gazetted Principals’ Association, Rajabhanu Chandraprakash, has requested the Election Commission to declare a holiday on December 1. Bhutham Yakamallu, the State President of the Telangana Model School Teachers Association (TMSTA), has also made a similar appeal to the Election Commission.
As the Telangana elections are around the corner, government officials are being briefed and assigned specific responsibilities. The Election Commission is directing attention to the matter of liquor shipments, a significant concern in the elections. Consequently, extensive inspections are underway in this regard.
Telangana political parties, including BRS, Congress, and others, vie for voter support with welfare plans on pensions, job benefits, insurance, and state jobs. BRS faces tough competition from Congress and BJP. Key concerns include unemployment, freebie impact, and corruption allegations.
