Every year, thousands of candidates appear for the exam after preparing for several years, but only a few of them can clear it and work for an administrative post in the Indian government. The civil service examination (CSE) has three stages: preliminary stage, mains, and interview. Today, let’s talk about the success story of Akshat Verma, who cleared the UPSC CSE not once but twice and achieved his dream of becoming an IAS officer.
Akshat Verma was born in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, and he grew up there. His father was a doctor in the city, and Akshat completed his school education at the Army Public School, in Ayodhya. After he was done with his school education, he took the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) and cleared it. Then he completed his engineering degree from IIT Roorkee. Akshat was always a bright student, and he even got the opportunity to visit the famous Beijing Jiaotong University in China. After he completed his engineering, he became an assistant engineer in the Ministry of Road Transport. But he had always wanted to work as a civil servant for the country, so he started preparing for the UPSC CSE.
Along with his job, he started preparing for the civil service exam. During his initial attempt, he was able to crack the exam and got selected for the IRS in 2015 by securing the 667th rank. He then worked as an assistant commissioner in the Income Tax Department. However, he was not satisfied with the post and wanted to become an IAS. In 2016, he once again appeared for the UPSC CSE and passed it with a better rank. Akshat became an IAS officer of the 2017 batch and took charge as Assistant Magistrate in Shahjahanpur district on April 27, 2018.
He remained posted as Assistant Magistrate of Shahjahanpur in 2019. In 2019, he was appointed as Joint Magistrate in Unnao. Then, in the year 2021, he was made the Chief Development Officer in Sitapur. Now he has been transferred to the position of Municipal Commissioner in Varanasi.
