A Minecraft Movie is smashing expectations — and maybe a few movie theaters too.
Warner Bros. and Legendary’s massive video game adaptation has officially crossed a towering $550.6 million at the global box office after just two weekends, making it 2025’s highest-grossing film so far.
The movie, based on the iconic sandbox game, has collected $281 million domestically and $269.6 million internationally, easily surpassing Disney and Marvel’s Captain America: Brave New World by a significant margin.
Audiences everywhere are flocking to see the film, with particularly strong performances in the United Kingdom ($39.8M), China ($20.3M), Germany ($18.9M), and Mexico ($18.7M).
Even with a 45% drop from its debut weekend internationally, A Minecraft Movie is maintaining incredible momentum, pulling another $79.6 million from 76 markets just this past weekend.
But the box office numbers aren’t the only thing causing a frenzy.
In a wild turn, many theaters have had to start showing a public service announcement (PSA) before the movie, politely asking fans to stay calm and not destroy the cinema.
The chaos seems to have been triggered by one unexpected character: the Chicken Jockey. Its surprise appearance in the movie has audiences losing it to the point where some have even been kicked out of screenings for rowdy behavior.
While most moviegoers are just having a good time, the phenomenon of Minecraft-mania has truly gone next-level — both at the box office and in the aisles.
At this rate, if the hype continues, A Minecraft Movie could easily be the first film of the year to enter the billion-dollar club.
