‘Chikkar’ trailer promises a gripping crime drama | The Express Tribune

Dareechay Films has unveiled the trailer for the highly-anticipated crime thriller Chikkar starring Usman Mukhtar and Ushna Shah. Scheduled to hit cinemas nationwide on December 22, 2023, this crime thriller marks the directorial debut for Zaheer Uddin.

The trailer takes off with a narration claiming, “The people in this world are divided into two groups or two circles; a bigger circle and a smaller circle.” We are treated to glimpses of Usman Mukhtar’s worrisome gaze, Adnan Shah Tipu’s death stare and Nausheen Shah’s vicious glare. The shots cut to a mob cheering, followed by a scene of Ushna Shah staring at her phone in shock. 

“Baray circle mein chotay log hotay hain or chotay circle mein baray log. Or chotay circle walay baray circle walon ko chalatay hain (the bigger circle occupies smaller people and the smaller circle entertains all the bigwigs. These bigwigs control the majority),” the narrator adds. 

The following scenes offer gripping shots of a police officer (Mukhtar) in his quest to bring justice in light of a harrowing crime, details of which have not been revealed. The trailer skillfully keeps the biggest plot point of the film underwraps while promising a thrilling storyline that is sure to surprise, or shock. The video concludes with Mukhtar stating, “Do you know the oldest two nation theory in the world is based on the divide between the rich and the poor.”

Speaking at the trailer launch, the writer and director revealed that Chikkar delves into the harsh realities of society that everyone witnesses but no one dares to speak about. As per a press release, he adds, “It’s a cinematic journey that explores the complexities in our country, promising a unique blend of suspense, drama, and realism.”

The theatrical trailer promises a film with a distinct style, incorporating seriousness, creativity, engaging situations, sensitive topics, and realistic scenery. Set in a small town in Punjab, the production guarantees a gripping crime suspense experience.

Chikkar a social diary unfolding over 8 days, features stellar performances by Mukhtar, Ushna Shah, Faryal Mehmood, Nausheen Shah, Saleem Mairaj, Ali Sheikh, Tipu, and other seasoned TV and theatre actors.
