Google Doodle is known for celebrating the trend of the day or special observance days with a vibrant and creative Doodle. And today is no exception. As per the official website of Google Doodle,this animated Doodle celebrates the conclusion of the 2024 Summer Games, which was created by Doodler, Helene Leroux and guest artist, Chris O’hara. The doodle features three lamp posts symbolizing gold, silver, and bronze podiums with three animated birds.
The official website reads, “It’s time to bid the Paris Games adieu! Today’s Doodle celebrates the conclusion of the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games, where top athletes competed in wheelchair fencing at the Grand Palais, rode horses at the Palace of Versailles, power lifted at the Porte de La Chapelle Arena, and more.The final ceremony takes place at France’s national stadium, the Stade de France.”
The post further reads, “After the flag-bearing athlete parade, Paris will officially pass the baton to Los Angeles, the host of the next Paralympic Summer Games in 2028. Congratulations to all the competing athletes!”
As per the official website of Olympics, a record 84 para athletes represented India at Paris 2024 Paralympics in the French capital from August 28 to September 8, where they took part across 12 disciplines and won 29 medals, with seven gold, nine silver, and thirteen bronze. Also, Indian para athletes took part in three new sports – para cycling, para rowing and blind judo – at Paris 2024.
Avani Lekhara became the first Indian woman to win two gold medals at the Paralympic Games, defending her title in the women’s 10m air rifle standing SH1 shooting event with a world record score. With Mona Agarwal winning bronze, it was also the first time India had a double podium finish in a single event at the Paralympic Games.
India recorded a one-two in athletics for the first time, with Dharambir and Parnav Soorma clinching gold and silver, respectively, in the men’s club throw F51 event. Dharambir also set a new Asian record of 34.92m. Later, Praveen Kumar also logged an Asian record to win the high jump T64 title and fetched India’s sixth gold, their highest ever at the Paralympics.
