Netflix’s The Crown may have been actor Humayun Saeed’s greatest triumph in his decade-long acting career but it also sparked a controversial debate on social media due to an intimate scene between his character, Dr Hasnat Khan and Elizabeth Debicki’s Diana.
In a recent appearance on the talk show, The Fourth Umpire, Saeed was asked about a specific scene from The Crown that went viral online amongst Pakistani audiences.
During the show, co-host Qasim Sheikh took his chance and asked Saeed, “Ap ki jou aik series ayi hai The Crown, Pakistan mein super-duper hit sirf woh aik scene ki wajah se hui hai, ap samaj rahe hain na kiss scene ki wajah se hui hai (You worked in The Crown which went super-duper hit here because of its one scene, you understand which scene I’m talking about)?”
Taking a short pause, Saeed hesitatingly asked, “Kiss scene ki wajah se (Which scene are you referring to)?” In response to this, Sheikh questioned again, “Kiss scene ki baat kar raha hoon, samaj tou gaye hoongaye ap (You know which scene I am talking about).”
Hearing this, Saeed then came up with an unfinished account. “Usmein aik scene tha jismein aisa lagta hai ke mein kar raha hoon, lekin yeh sach nahi hai (Well, there was one scene in which it seems that I’m doing that, but that’s not the case),” answered Saeed laughing.
“Kya kar rahe hou (What were you doing)?” asked the host again teasing him. “Acting, acting kar rahe hain ap (You were acting, right)?”
“Acting hi kar raha hoon, lekin mein nahi kar raha acting (I am acting, yes, but I’m really not acting),” replied the Meray Paas Tum Ho actor.
Moving on, the co-host Sheikh again popped another question for Saeed. He inquired, “Qoam yeh jana chahti hai ke apko kaisa laga (The world wants to know how do you feel after doing that scene)?”
“Muhjay acting achi lagi, larki ki (I loved my co-star’s acting),” responded Saeed blushing, without revealing any further information.
