Kumbh Mela 2025: With just a few days left before the glorious and grand Maha Kumbh Mela commences in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, devotees’ attention has been drawn to a special and spiritual white bus that not only houses Swami Sachchidanand Chaitanya but also carries the world’s heaviest Sphatik (crystal) Shivling.
As claimed by Swami Sachchidanand, the world’s heaviest Sphatik Shivling that weighs 65 kgs was installed by his guru, Shri Laxman Chaitanya Brahmachari in 1992.
Emerging as a major attraction at the Maha Kumbh Mela, which is held once every 12 years, the bus, a Tata 1210 model, has been parked near Alopshankari Crossing on the Sangam Lower Road in Sector 18.
Since its arrival, the bus has witnessed an influx of devotees, saints, seers and naga sadhus.
Speaking to PTI, Swami Chaitanya explained how Shri Laxman Chaitanya Brahmachari Ji had prepared the bus for the Ujjain Simhastha Kumbh, and named it Shri Shri Harsiddhi. He also believed the bus is a symbol of spiritual power.

Swami Chaitanya elaborated on its spiritual significance along with some practical features that help it function smoothly. He revealed a square tank designed atop the bus to collect holy water from pilgrimage sites and lakes, including the 12 Jyotirlingas, which was used to consecrate the Sphatik Shivling.
After Shri Laxman Chaitanya Brahmachari Maharaj passed away in 2001, his disciple Guru Maa Doctor Kalyani Chaitanya Brahmacharini continued to live in the bus and carried forward the legacy until she died in 2023.
The bus, which once included a kitchen and toilet, also features a section that can be converted into a stage. It contains a grain storage system in place for preparing food offerings. Even though Tata Motors no longer manufactures spare parts for the particular bus model, mechanics still manage to take care of its longevity by repairing it using parts sourced from various locations, he shared.
