On the eighth day of Navratri, Goddess Mahagauri is worshipped.

The expert said that on Mahashtami, most of the devotees meditate while focusing on Goddess Mahagauri’s face.

Navratri, the nine-day festival, is celebrated in every nook and corner of India. This festival sees devotees paying respects to different forms of the goddess Durga each day. Today, on the third day, devotees worship goddess Chandraghanta.

The eighth day of Navratri or Durga Mahashtami is dedicated to Goddess Mahagauri, who is the eighth Avatar of Maa Durga. Pandit Pradeep Acharya told News18 that on this auspicious day, most of the devotees meditate while focusing on Goddess Mahagauri’s face. According to him, the female devotees should meditate while focusing on the feet of Goddess Mahagauri. Pandit Acharya added that by doing this, the women devotees will be able to attain the desired life partner.

Pandit Shri Acharya further said that this year, Navratri hs started on October 15 and October 21 marks the Saptami Tithi. On this day, the seventh form of Maa Durga, Maa Kaalratri will be worshipped. Ashtami Tithi is starting from 09:53 p.m. on October 21 and will continue till the night of October 22.

Due to Udaya Tithi, however, the Ashtami vrat will be observed for the whole day on October 22. Pandit Acharya said that worshipping Mata Mahagauri from 09:21 p.m. to 10:56 p.m. on October 22 will reap benefits. On this day, Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga, Ravi Yoga, Karana Yoga, and Bhadrasana Yog will be formed.

2. Ravi Yog is associated with the energy of the Sun and the work done in this Yog, has a better chance of being successful.

According to him, the devotees can worship the Goddess Mahagauri by lighting a lamp. He added that believers, who have installed the Kalash at their homes, can also worship Goddess Mahagauri in their houses. Pandit Acharya said that the Goddess finishes our enemies and blesses us with food, offspring, etc.

Devotees often organise Kanya Pujan on this day, inviting nine young girls. They offer the favourite bhog of Maa Durga, which includes Halwa, Poori and coconut.
