  2. Ravi Shankar recited Bhagavad Gita when he was merely 4 years old.
  3. Vedic scholar Pandit Sudhakar Chaturvedi was his first teacher. He is said to have inculcated in Ravi Shankar the ideals of the Arya Samaj.
  4. His spiritual guide was Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, the founder of Transcendental Meditation (TM) technique. Ravi Shankar started his journey in the world of yoga and spirituality as a disciple of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in the 1970s.
  5. Ravi Shankar established The Art of Living Foundation in 1981. It is a non-profit, humanitarian organisation with centres in 180 countries.
  6. The revered Yoga guru, popularly known as Gurudev, invented Sudarshan Kriya, a powerful breathing technique after a ten-day period of silence in 1982. Over the years Sudarshan Kriya has become the core of the yoga training by Art of Living.
