SRK earns a whopping INR2 billion after ‘Pathaan’ | The Express Tribune

An exclusive report by Bollywood Hungama has been released, which calculates the earnings attributed to the recent Indian cinema release, Pathaan; and the numbers that are in are absolutely staggering. 

The behemoth of a hit has gone on to shatter ceilings in terms of expectations, becoming one of the most iconic hits of its time. The film, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, and John Abraham, was released on January 25, 2023, and generated massive expectations due to its star-studded cast and high budget. 

The film exceeded box office projections by earning INR570 million on its first day and ultimately earned INR5.45 billion in India and INR3.96 billion overseas. The film’s distributor shares in India and overseas were INR2.45 billion and INR1.78 billion, respectively. The sale of satellite and digital rights contributed an additional INR1.50 billion, while music rights and subsidies brought in INR300 million. 

The total budget for the film, including production and advertising, was INR2.7 billion. The film’s total revenue of over INR6 billion earned Yash Raj Films a profit of approximately INR3.33 billion. Shah Rukh’s remuneration was a whopping INR2 billion, which he earned through a 60% profit-sharing arrangement rather than an upfront fee.

Pathaan, the much-anticipated action thriller, has clearly lived up to its hype. Directed by Siddharth Anand, the movie follows the story of Pathaan (Shah Rukh Khan), a ruthless and determined exiled RAW agent, who is out to nab the biggest criminal in the city, played by John Abraham. Along the way, Pathaan crosses paths with ISI agent Rubina ‘Rubai’ Mohsin (Deepika Padukone) who helps him unravel the truth behind the criminal’s misdeeds. The movie is a perfect blend of action, drama, and suspense, and it kept the audience at the edge of their seats throughout.

The movie’s reception has been overwhelming, with both the audience and critics lauding it for its performances, direction, and storyline.
