FRIENDSHIP DAY 2024 DATE IN INDIA: Friendship Day celebrates the important relationships we have formed throughout our lives with our friends. Since friendship isn’t dependent on caste, creed, age, religion, ethnicity, or social expectations, it is ultimately one of the most authentic types of relationships and Friendship Day is celebrated to honour this unique bond. As the event is observed on the first Sunday of every August, it will be celebrated on August 4 this year.
Friendship Day History
Friendship Day was introduced in 1930 as a marketing ploy by Joyce Hall, the founder of Hallmark Cards. However, it quickly became more popular in the US and other parts of the world. The first official World Friendship Day was proposed in Paraguay in 1958, and the UN named Winnie the Pooh the world’s Ambassador of Friendship in 1998. Finally, the United Nations officially declared July 30th as International Friendship Day, but it is celebrated on the first Sunday of August in India.
Friendship Day Significance
As per UN, problems like poverty and violations of human rights persist and threaten development, security, social cohesion, and interpersonal peace in the global community. In order to ensure that we erase all the elements that endanger a peaceful future together, we must strive to build strong bonds of trust with one another by commemorating International Friendship Day.
We often take the relationships we have with our friends for granted. Thus, a day such as Friendship Day serves as a reminder to express our gratitude to our friends for their friendship and everything they have done for us.
