Former Pakistan captain, Shahid Afridi also expects Babar to step up his game and finish matches for the Men in Green.

“Improved line and length today and a great 5fer by @iShaheenAfridi Strong opening by @imabd28 & @ImamUlHaq12 but the team lost. I expect @babarazam258 to exhibit during this WC, the world class finisher that he is. #CWC23,” Afridi wrote in a post on X.

Australia set an impressive total of 367 runs in their first innings, thanks mainly to a remarkable 259-run opening partnership by David Warner (163 runs) and Mitchell Marsh (121 runs).

While chasing the target, Pakistan could only manage 305 runs and their captain, Babar Azam, struggled once again, managing only 18 runs before being dismissed by Adam Zampa.

Babar has been facing a run drought in mega event, scoring only 5 runs against the Netherlands and 10 runs against Sri Lanka in the first two matches. However, he showed improvement in the third match against India, scoring a fifty.
