Man City’s Pep Guardiola to remain candid with players regardless of their feelings

Manchester City’s boss Pep Guardiola has once again reiterated his commitment to remain candid and speak his mind whether players like it or not.

“I will do those things whether they want to hear it or not,’ Guardiola said while stressing his resolve to win the consecutive fourth Premier League title.

His remarks come after the Spaniard opened a broadside against players and fans last January following their 4-2 win against Tottenham — the same team Manchester City will be facing today at The Etihad in their Premier League match, reported Daily Mail.

Guardiola highlighted that he said more positive things to players in both private and public as compared to the criticism he has made, adding that he was merely being brutally honest and simply speaking his mind.

According to the Man City boss, it’s a manager’s job to say what actually happens and if someone doesn’t like it’s their problem [and not his].

He stressed that the team has to see things as they are and said that two of the four goals that the team conceded against Chelsea were “avoidable”.

“It was an issue. We will lose games if we do not solve it.”

Despite some players and fans arguably being irked by Guardiola’s straightforward attitude, the team’s new addition Jeremy Doku is rather impressed by the Spaniard’s bluntness.

Crediting Guardiola for his decision to join Man City, Doku said: “He can take me to the next level […] He lets me be myself but helps a lot with the details to be a better player.”
