The Road Safety World Series, a T20 league featuring former International stars, will include a team from Pakistan for the first time in its upcoming third season.Â
The league commenced its first season in March 2020 and has subsequently completed two seasons, with both taking place in India.
According to ESPNCricinfo, the league, previously held in India, has now received approval from the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) to be played at their homesoil.Â
The league’s first two seasons were impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic, and due to the tense relations between the governments of India and Pakistan in recent years and the fact that the first two seasons were held in India, no team from Pakistan had participated in the league until now.
The competition has attracted several former champions of ODI and T20 World Cups, including Sachin Tendulkar, Kevin Pietersen, Sanath Jayasuriya, Shane Watson, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Yuvraj Singh, Brian Lara, Jonty Rhodes, Shane Bond, and numerous other notable players.
The exact dates for the third season are still being worked out, but it has been discovered that the league will take place in early September and span almost three weeks. The upcoming edition will see the participation of nine teams, one more than the previous year’s eight.
