Pakistan skipper Shaheen Shah Afridi expressed his thoughts following Pakistan’s 46-run defeat to New Zealand in the first T20I at Eden Park, Auckland, on Friday.
Despite the setback in his first match as Pakistan’s T20I captain, Shaheen maintained a positive outlook during the post-match presentation.
“Always proud captaining your country. Short boundaries for fast bowlers but it’s just a start and we played very good cricket. We will try to give our best in next few games,” Afridi said.
“We have to do more good work in the field, as we dropped catches during the match,” he added.
Shaheen also praised opener Saim Ayub for his notable contribution, scoring 27 runs off just 8 balls during Pakistan’s run-chase.
“I think for us it’s a positive sign, Saim Ayub played a good innings, you need to give them time and we are planning for World Cup and that’s a start,” he added.
