We battle with his English but we needed Zaman Khan: Mickey Arthur

Pakistan fast bowler, Zaman Khan, received high acclaim from Pakistan team director, Mickey Arthur, for his impressive bowling skills during the first match of the ongoing T20 Vitality Blast in the United Kingdom.

Arthur, who also serves as the head of cricket at Derbyshire cricket club, praised Khan while addressing the media after Derbyshire Falcons’ loss to Lancashire Lightning in their opening match.

Arthur specifically mentioned that he had recruited Khan to enhance the bowling lineup of the Falcons in the Derbyshire leg of the Blast.

“He will just get better and better. He possesses the skills we need. He balls an incredibly-good fast yorker; he delivers a good bouncer and a very good slower ball, and those are the skills we need,” Arthur said.

“The key is he fits into what we needed. We needed somebody who can bowl two overs in the power play and then two at death. Something when we had looked at our squad, we thought we had left, and he can do that and does that incredibly well. We battle a little bit with his English, but actually we are very fortunate to get him,” he added.

The bowler joined the Derbyshire squad on Thursday and had a single practice session at Incora County Ground, which is the home of Derbyshire cricket. Shortly after, he was immediately put into action in the T20 Blast opener on Saturday against Lancashire at Edgbaston. He conceded 41 runs, while picking two wickets.

Zaman will play his second match of the season on Friday, May 26th, as Derbyshire Falcons face off against the nearby Nottinghamshire Outlaws at Trent Bridge.
