Zaman Khan’s exceptional death-over bowling steered Derbyshire to a remarkable victory against Birmingham Bears by 17 runs on Friday at County Ground, Derby.
With the ball, Khan played an essential part in consistently breaking down the Birmingham batting lineup.

The right-arm pacer, claimed his first breakthrough when he removed Bears’ skipper, Moeen Ali for 16. He then claimed the important wicket of Ed Barnard, who had scored crucial 27 runs for his side in the end overs.
As the match had already been decided in favor of Derbyshire, Zaman then struck and picked up his third wicket as he bowled a brilliant yorker, and dismissed Jake Lintott for just (5).

With a notable contribution, having ended with the figures of 3/34 runs in the allotted four overs, the 21-year-old played a pivotal role in restricting Birmingham to a score of 157/9 wickets in the 20 overs.
Earlier, after being asked to bat first, Derbyshire had scored 174/5 in the first innings. The knock by Wayne Madsen turned out to be crucial as he scored 71 runs from 52 deliveries, which included 12 boundaries.
Haider Ali also scored 32 runs in 31 balls for Derbyshire, which included three fours and a six.
