Middle East conflict live updates: Iran says it’s ‘not looking for war’ as U.S. hints at Jordan attack response

Iranian officials attempted to avoid escalation with the United States, while also projecting strength, after an attack in Jordan that killed three U.S. service members. “We are not looking for war, but we are not afraid of it either,” said Hossein Salami, the commander in chief of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, according to a report by Iranian state media. President Biden said he held Iran responsible for supplying weapons for the attack on Sunday. National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said Wednesday that the U.S. response to the attack “won’t just be a one-off.”
