In a harrowing incident in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, a man fell victim to a vicious attack by his own 44-kg American XL Bully dog, an outlawed breed in the UK and Wales.

The alarming assault occurred in October and resulted in the man enduring eight stitches in his genital area and 32 in his arms. The dog, named Envie, not only targeted the man but also attacked his partner, Lynsey Kelly, biting her shin.

The couple, initially reluctant to discuss the ordeal, recently opened up about the traumatic event.

Recounting the horrifying scene, Kelly shared, “He was writhing on the floor and said ‘it’s grabbed my b*****ks,'” as Envie unexpectedly latched onto the man’s arm before turning on his groin.

Kelly, displaying remarkable courage, managed to confine the aggressive dog in a room and swiftly transported her injured partner to the hospital in an ambulance. Emergency surgery was performed to reattach the man’s severed testicles.

While Kelly continues her recovery from bite wounds, the Metro report revealed that Envie met a tragic fate, being euthanised following the assault. This incident coincides with the impending ban on XL Bully dogs, set to be enforced on Sunday.

The UK government’s decision, announced in September, comes in response to a surge in fatal attacks involving this particular breed.

As of February 1, ownership of an XL Bully dog without a certificate of exemption will be deemed a criminal offence in England and Wales under the newly amended Dangerous Dogs Act 1991.
