CBSE: Students who have exams on the same dates as international Olympiads or national and international sporting events would be accommodated by assigning them new dates

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), recently announced that board exams for students participating in national or international sporting events, as well as international Olympiads, would be held at a later date. The board exams for students taking part in the said events will be conducted after the regular Class 10 and Class 12 board exam dates. The goal of this endeavour is to help youngsters participate in sports and educational events without compromising on either.

Students who have examinations on the same dates as international Olympiads or national and international sporting events, including travel dates for these events in 2024, would be accommodated by assigning them new dates, states CBSE.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Sports Authority of India (SAI) must both acknowledge the sport in order for participants to be eligible to sit for the special exams. On the other hand, the Homi Bhabha Center for Science Education (HBCSE) should acknowledge the Olympiads.

The CBSE 2024 test schedule, however, would not include any separate chances for compartment or practical exams.

Schools must submit applications to the appropriate regional office by December 31 in order to be considered for the special tests. Special exam requests received after the deadline will not be approved. Additionally, recommendations from the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education and the Sports Authority of India are indispensable. A certificate of participation from the appointed officers of the pertinent organisations is also required of the students.

Additionally, CBSE has made it clear that this special exam would not be accessible for internal evaluations, projects, or practical exams. Furthermore, attendance exemptions exceeding the Boards’ guidelines will not be granted.

Students need to be aware that they are not eligible to take the special exam in order to be considered for training or selection camps.

Meanwhile, the Central Board of Secondary Education has issued the subject-wise mark breakdown for all students and instructors to refer to prior to the board exams 2024. Anyone who is interested in checking the division of marks between practical and theory may view the PDF at cbse.gov.in, the CBSE’s official website. The marking scheme has been developed for 83 subjects in class 10 and 121 in class 12.
