Shweta Mishra, The IAS Officer Who ‘Sprinted’ Her Way To Success – News18

Mithlesh Kumar Mishra, Shweta Mishra’s father, serves as a senior foreman at BCCL, while her mother, Sarita Mishra, manages the household.

Shweta Mishra, from Dhanbad, Jharkhand, earned the 376th rank in the UPSC Civil Services Exam on her fourth attempt. Her remarkable achievement was the result of her dedicated self-study efforts. Interestingly, while securing this rank, she was employed as an Inspector at the Home Ministry of the Government of India, stationed in Patna.

Her fitness journey commenced during her UPSC foundation course training at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration in Mussoorie. Running became a mandatory part of her curriculum there. Impressively, she not only embraced this new activity but also excelled in it by achieving the top position on the podium in the Punjab Half Marathon.

Following this, she continued her studies at Delhi University, initially at Lady Shri Ram College for her undergraduate degree, and later, she pursued LLB at the same university.

After her graduation in Law, Shweta embarked on her UPSC journey. Despite initial setbacks with two unsuccessful attempts, she persevered relentlessly. Ultimately, in her fourth attempt in the year 2017, she achieved her dream by securing the 376th rank. Her success led to her appointment as an Indian Audit and Accounting Service Officer.

Civil service officer Shweta Mishra is widely recognized for her dedication to fitness. Her daily routine includes rigorous running and exercise sessions. She covers a remarkable ten kilometres every day and generously shares fitness advice on various social media platforms.

Shweta’s unwavering dedication to staying fit during her pregnancy sets a motivating example for several women. Her journey underscores the possibility for women to actively pursue their passions and maintain an active lifestyle even while expecting. Furthermore, her story has sparked important conversations about the value of exercise during pregnancy and the need to challenge traditional norms and conventions.
